Frankensteins & Foreign Devils - Walter Jon Williams A collection of short fiction from the 1990s, I bought [b:Frankensteins and Foreign Devils|629539|Frankensteins and Foreign Devils|Walter Jon Williams|http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51WzDM7MuUL._SL75_.jpg|1754153] to read Solip:System -- the novella-length sequel to Williams' excellent [b:Hardwired|304761|Hardwired (Hardwired, #1)|Walter Jon Williams|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1317581332s/304761.jpg|2253019]. The novella was stylish and a little perverse, as were several other stories in the collection, which tended to bounce between cyberpunkish future stories and historical sci-fi (one deals with Wells' War of the Worlds invasion from a Chinese viewpoint). Overall, I liked this collection, though those interested in seeing Williams at his short fiction best should probably read his more recent [b:The Green Leopard Plague and Other Stories|7756439|The Green Leopard Plague and Other Stories|Walter Jon Williams|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1279510619s/7756439.jpg|10613359] collection, which is frankly stunning.
